We are delighted to announce a concert in honour of Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee, to be performed on Saturday 30th April in St. Mary's Church, The Causeway, Horsham, starting at 7.30 p.m.

The centrepiece of the concert will be two of Handel's "Coronation Anthems" - "The King shall Rejoice" and "Zadok the Priest", one of his best-known works.  These anthems were originally commissioned for the coronation of George II in 1727, close to 300 years ago,  and "Zadok" has been sung at the coronation of every British monarch since then.

Our programme also includes other pieces sung at the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 with Parry's  rousing"I was Glad", Ralph Vaughan Williams' "The Old Hundredth Psalm" and "O Lord our Governour" by British composer Healey Willan, perhaps not so well known now but a brilliant composer whose music is well worth hearing.  The same is true of William McKie who wrote the anthem "We wait for the loving kindness, O God" for the marriage of the then Princess Elizabeth to Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten in 1947, which we will also sing.

In addition to these choral works we will be performing patriotic pieces the audience will know and love and we hope you will join us in singing them.

Tickets are available from the Christ's Hospital Box Office, from members or on the door with prices of £15.00 or less.

Keep your eye on our website as we add further details of the programme.
