At last the choir has been able to sing together again, albeit virtually. Our first live online rehearsal took place on Tuesday 13th October on YouTube and, with our new Musical Director Ruaraidh Sutherland at the piano, it went very well. It was a new experience for all of us, and it can feel strange singing on one's own with just a piano to sing along to but Ruaraidh made it feel like a real rehearsal and added interest by telling us not only about the style of writing, how we might sing it in performance, but also the history of the pieces. In the first week we sang parts of two movements from Haydn's Harmoniemesse, a work we hope to perform at a future concert. In other rehearsals we will also be looking at Fauré's Requiem which will be the work we will sing with the school choir for the Angus Ross concert of spring 2021, all being well. We will be rehearsing both these works as the weeks progress.
Our online rehearsals will now be held every Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m. and we invite all members, and indeed non-members, to join us. If you are not a member and live within striking distance of Horsham, West Sussex and you might want to sing with us when life returns to normal then please do get in touch via this website, and we can arrange for you to join us in these online rehearsals in the meantime. In addition we will be keeping edited versions of our rehearsals on our YouTube channel so feel free to try them out at any time you choose.
