Our performance of Haydn's 'Creation' on Saturday exceeded all expectations. The choir, now numbering a strong 60 singers, were in great voice, and rose to the wonderful acoustic of the Christ's Hospital Chapel. Our orchestra were a delight, and it was particularly pleasing that the eleven professional musicans had there ranks swelled by seven students from the school, all of whom say they very much enjoyed the experience. Our soloists were superb. Bass James Bartlett, Director of Music at Christ's Hospital, had his professional soloist hat on and was a revelation. Soprano Lucy Elston has a magical voice, delightful to hear, and Tenor Guy Elliott was inspirational. We can count ourselves fortunate to have had him sing with us as her is clearly going places. Needless to say when the three sang together it was a privilege to be there. A great evening, a large audience and appreciative audience, and we thank everyone for their post-concert plaudits.
